Welcoming back Young Artists
Susan Aggarwal is back to lead the Young Artists work sponsored by Warmco Properties and Woodend Studios.
Building on previous success and her joy of working with and mentoring young artists we are delighted to say Susan has expanded the program for 2024 to include a dedicated project with St John’s Primary School, James Street, Failsworth and together with Woodend Studios this project will develop beyond this Open Studio and be featured showing stage 2 at the next one.
Halloween 2024…what a night!
Look what the studio holders at Woodend Mill, Mossley did for Halloween 2024!
They lit the place up, decorated Mill One and put on a show for all the visitors.
The following studio holders where part of a great week; Luna Crafts Group, Simon Hodgson, Kelly Wood (and her too sons who dressed as Zombies to ‘welcome’ the kids), Jake Moss, Chris Anderson of No Eyed Theatre who provided great props, Tony and Tom of SciTech who WOWED everyone with their spooky science…
The Pumpkin Patch…is waiting for your visit
The Pumpkin Patch is now ready and waiting for all our visitors, we look forward to welcoming you all. For some years now studio-holders have said they wanted to develop how we use the site and what we do for the community to get involved with what we all know to be a really wonderful location.

It was great to welcome Hannah Weston of Tameside Council and Matthew Prendergast of Castlefield Gallery as we hosted this month’s Tameside Creative Network meeting in the Café @ Woodend Mill (thank you Phil).
Lovely to see many studio holders and to welcome other creatives from the area. A relaxed, friendly and enjoyable event that provided the opprtunity to people to exchange and share their experience and advice.

Little House of Victoria welcomes artist and embroiderer Anne Kelly to their studio in September 2024 to host 2 full-day workshops exploring textiles, stitch and creating compositions inspired by Folk Art (Saturday 28 September) and the architecture of our houses and homes. The delicate and nuanced observations drawn out by the passion and experience of Anne and Victoria will no doubt result in work you will cherish and enjoy for many years.

On a recent trip to Bermondsey I happened upon the ‘Odds & Ends’ sale at London Glassblowing. The first time renowned glass artist Peter Layton is ‘parting with a collection of his most cherished oddities - private experiments, fleeting ideas, and unfinished works lovely preserved over his 50-year career.

Young Artists Triumph at Woodend Studios
Young artists who exhibited their work as part of the recent Woodend Mills, Open Studio Weekend. Susan Aggarwal, a studio holder a Woodend Mills, worked with local school children to curate the exhibition which was well received by our many visitors. Thank you to Sue and all the exhibiting young artists. We look forward to seeing your next exhibition.

Halloween - Woodend Mill, Mossley
Halloween night event, pumpkin carving, a ghost trail through the haunted mill, followed by soup or hotpot with fresh bread and a costume parade…before the little ghosts and ghouls go home to bed before the witching hour!
Fabulous Open Studio Weekend
What a fabulous open studio weekend at Woodend Mill, Mossley, the artists and creative industries put on a fantastic show and the number of opportunities for visitors to get involved raised the bar higher than ever. We are looking forward to the next event in Winter 2024. We may do a little something for Halloween too!

Young artists will be exhibiting their work as part of the Woodend Mills, Open Studio Weekend. Susan Aggarwal, a studio holder a Woodend Mills, has worked with local schools to curate and hang the exhibition which can be viewed on Level 2 of Mill 2. Little House of Victoria…in the USA
Congratulations Little House of Victoria, Victoria’s delightful embroidery kits are now stocked across the pond by The French Needle based in Maryland USA. They specialise in bringing artisan embroidery from round the world to their American audience and it is not surprise they loved Victoria’s kits when they met her at a fair.
All Season’s Art Club 20 year Anniversary
Professor of Art Sheila Meeks is a studio holder at Woodend Studios, Woodend Mill, Mossley. Sheila is also the tutor of All Seasons Art Club who meet weekly in Hattersley. A group of 33 artists they have an exhibition on 25 June 2024 between 4pm and 7pm at Hattersley Hub to celebrate 20 years of the club. A remarkable milestone and the exhibition will feature work by the whole group, it promises to be wonderful and a great way t spend an evening, with refreshments offered and all welcome.

We are delighted to be hosting some young artists work at the Open Studio Weekend; Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2024, 10am - 4pm.
Susan Aggarwal has arranged for some of her young students work to be exhibited, you will be able to see the work on Level 2 of Mill 2 and we highly recommend you visit.
